Happy 6 years!

(sorry I couldn't figure out how to rotate that temple picture, but you get the idea)

Last week on the 7th of August Nick and I celebrated our 6th anniversary.  I know lots of people say this, but I can hardly believe it has been 6 years!  To celebrate the day we went on a walk at the Logan temple.  Then I gave Nick a roll of pennies that we split in half and threw in a fountain one at a time.  With each penny we told one of our favorite memories together.  The last 5 pennies we saved for future wishes.  Next we went to dinner and after dropping Molly off with my sister, we went to the new house where I set up a dessert picnic and movie.  I thought it would be cool to watch one there since that is essentially our present to each other.  We ate oreo truffles and watched 50 first dates.  Happy Anniversary Nicholas!!
House update:  Today we drove by and the siding is all on.  We are waiting for the shutters and brick, but it is looking so good! :)  We didn't have the camera with us though, so here is a picture from yesterday.  It gives you an idea of what it will look like.

A Mom Degree

I should have got a degree in being a mom.  Who would have thought that something as simple as feeding your baby could be so hard?  Today I tried to give Molly carrots and wow, what a mess.  I really did try to get it in her mouth.  She made some pretty funny faces though.

Last week was so much fun!  We started off the week going to bear lake for some camping with our friends the Hardings.  It was SO nice and SO relaxing.  Thanks Hardings for going with us!  Then upon arriving home the Sidwell's were here to visit.  We spent time playing games, watching movies, and visiting.  We LOVE when Nick's family comes.  Molly took a little while to get used to new people.  In a way I love that she is clingy to me, but I feel bad that she won't go to others sometimes.  Sorry Nana and Papa-Molly does love you!
Then off we went on Thursday to Lagoon and to a cabin for the Whitehead reunion.  It was SO great to be together as a family!!  Joseph's family came from Iowa and so we were all together.  We went to a lake, had a talent show, played games, had a family kick-ball game, and just enjoyed time around the campfire.  THANKS family for being who you are!  We LOVE you!
After all the business and not being in our beds I was worried Molly would have a hard time adjusting to being home, but she slept SO GOOD when we got home.  She woke up to eat at 4:30 and then slept until 10 am.  It was heavenly!

6 Month Photos

For those of you who know my Molly, you know that she is full of smiles.  All you have to do to get her to smile is talk to her is a sweet voice and smile at her.  Last week I took her for her 6 month photos and after about 30 shots she was only smiling in 2.  I wasn't very happy with the photographer because she didn't even use a toy or talk in a high voice to get her to smile.  She just rushed through the whole thing.  This however is the one I liked the most.  It shows how she is sitting up so well on her own.
The house is coming along.  The shingles are on, the plumbing is done and today they are working on the electrical stuff.
This weekend we went to Salt Lake to visit some friends and we got a flat tire while I was driving on the freeway.  It was actually sort of scary.  I am so glad Nick was with me.  Why is it when you are trying to save up for a down payment on your house that you have all these "unexpected" things that come up.  Like new tires.  Ah well- we still had a great time with the Askeroths.

Milestones

As you can see from the last post, things are changing everyday around the Sidwell house.  First with Molly.  She turned 6 months yesterday!!  I can hardly believe how much my little baby is growing.  It seems so fast to me although yesterday at her 6 month appointment we found she is still measuring small.  13 lbs. 1 oz. and 25 inches long.  (5% for weight and 50% for height)  We also got the okay to start rice cereal.  (she had to wait until now to avoid food allergies because of her excema)  Today she tried it for the first time and seemed to like it okay.  She didn't give any nasty faces, but at the same time didn't seem to enjoy it too much either.

Nick and I went on our second date alone since Molly.  We went to Harry Potter 6.  A must see!!  We really enjoyed it!

And lastly, the house got windows today.  They are getting ready to shingle and side the house.  They are also working on the plumbing and electrical stuff.

The difference a day makes

I have been thinking how amazing it is that everyday Molly changes.  She does something new just about everyday.  Just this last week she learned how to sit up on her own.  She also officially found her tongue.

I also didn't realize what the difference a day makes when it comes to building a house.  I actually heard that it looks as if it is going up really fast for the first while and then when it gets to the finishing work it seems to take forever.  For now we will enjoy the quickness and daily changes.

Nick and I went rock climbing with some friends last night.  I did my first clim all the way to the top.  I think Nick was proud because I usually just stay at the bottom, or just climb a little ways up.
(this is me coming back down, but you can see how high the mountain was)

Cake

I am sort of sad that no one seems to check our blog anymore, or at least comment, but for some reason I still keep posting.  I actually like it for journaling purposes and because I know my mom checks it even though she doesn't really comment.  Anyway...

Tonight Nick and I watched the Bachelorette.  It is a show on abc.  Probably not the best show ever, but it makes us laugh.  It is a show where one girl and a bunch of guys go on dates and each week she picks one to send home.  It is getting close to the end and there are only 3 guys left.  Anyway, after it was over we went on a walk and started talking about when we were first dating years ago.  (7 years ago we met)  It actually was a crazy time in both of our lives and we felt like in a way we each lived our bachelor/bachelorette days.  We talked about why how we knew that we had found the "right one" for us.  I told Nick that we were like the ingredients to a yummy cake.  When you put us together we had all the ingredients.  There were other guys I dated that were sugar or eggs, but they didn't have everything that was needed to mix into something great.  That is what Nick did for me.  He completed me.  Molly coming along is just the icing on the cake.  She brings color, fun, sweetness and joy into our lives.  We are so lucky to be done with the single days and to have each other for eternity.  What a blessing.  I guess you can have your cake and eat it too.

Happy 4th!

We went on our first camping trip with Molly.  It was to a reunion in Manti.  We had a fun time being with family and friends and "catching up."  Molly did pretty well and actually loved being outside so much.  On the way home we stopped and had a BBQ with our friends the Bodily's.  We wanted to stay up for fireworks, but we were all SO EXHAUSTED that we went to bed early.  We did however drive by the new house to see what got done while we were gone.  Looks like they got most of the concrete poured.
